The Wyoming High School Nordic State Ski Championships were held at the Beaver Creek Nordic Ski Trails and hosted by the Lander Valley High School Nordic Ski Team.

Congratulations to the Jackson Hole High School Broncs Women’s and Men’s teams taking both first places overall.

Lander Women took second with Laramie Men taking second as well.

It was a fantastic weekend for skiing with some great individual performances.

Congratulations to all the competitors, coaches, volunteers and most importantly the skiers who invested incredible amounts of time preparing for this culminating event.

Lander is known for hosting and providing a great experience for all skiers.

Norm beat up on us, but thats the short report.

Zach took the lead heading out, but Norm juked him with a head-fake left, and when Zach tried to block it he left the right side open for a pass.  Once Norm had the lead, Zach said that he felt gassed.  Post-race it was revealed that Norm had breakfasted on homegrown beans, which he claimed gave him the power to dominate.  Zach still said he felt gassed.  Who knows?

Todd powered into 3rd, even after incurring a 2 minute “high sticking” penalty.  At least he left the body checks at home.  Myself and Dave missed the wax and the beans.

Joe bested Anne to dominate the classic race.  Anne said that Joe kindly waxed her skis before the race, but apparently the klister he put on hers didn’t glide as well as the green he used.  She did say that the grip was amazing though.

Thats it.  Next season will be all about redemption for most of us, and we’re hoping that Norms bean crop is stunted this summer.

**************DETAILS to date: 12/29 WILL be the 3rd rendition of the Old Coaches Immemorial Race. Planned route: Yurt to P to PD to P (all CW) to IP (CCW) to P to yurt. Might be 2 laps. All clear as mud:)

###########EDIT 12/20/12:  This is no longer a race, it is now an ‘event’.  Norm and Dave enlightened me that a ‘race’ may intimidate some from showing.  Bear in mind that even though young George may be there, he is a college student and therefore will probably get lost without guidance.  We definitely will not give guidance, which therefore makes it a freeform event.  Circular logic, but its just supposed to be fun.  If nothing else, be there to help George find his way.

@@@@@@@ EDIT #3 12/24/12:  TIMING IS GUARANTEED FOR THIS EVENT!   If you protest your time, you will be allowed to re-ski the route as many times as you like until you are satisfied with your time.   Heckuva deal, and its all FREE.

Norm (Mighty Mouse) Cessna is still spinning the wheel at BC.  A piece of cheese, or beans, and he’s good for at least 10-15 laps.  There is some snow.
