2022 Yellowstone Rendezvous Race
Are you ready to put a winter’s worth of training to the test while you enjoy the beauty of the Yellowstone region? You are invited to participate in the 43rd annual Yellowstone Rendezvous Race on March 5th, 2022 in West Yellowstone, Montana. There are six different races to choose from depending on your age and ability: 2K, 5K, 10K, 25K classic, 25K and 50K. The six races are run concurrently and skiers of all ages and abilities participate every year. The Rendezvous Race is the culmination of cross country ski racing in our region and, as the name implies, it is a reunion of old timers and new comers alike who have trained and skied on our trail system for years or who are skiing here for the first time. Run on the beautifully groomed, rolling terrain of the Rendezvous Ski Trails, there is no better way to celebrate the end of the winter season than to ski in the Yellowstone Rendezvous Race!

Author Anders Morely: This Land of Snow
Want to get inspired about where your Nordic skiing can take you? Come participate in an exciting event hosted by the Lander Library and Gannett Peak Sports on February 7, at 6:30 PM. Join us in the Carnegie Room where Anders Morley will be live (virtually) for a presentation and discussion on his book "This Land of Snow". The book about his adventure cross-country skiing across Canada won a 2021 National Outdoor Book Award. Come listen to Morley tell the story, ask him questions, and get inspired.
Gannett Peak Sports will be giving away a copy of the book (with others available for sale) and Lander Nordic Ski Association will be giving out some LNSA prizes. In the meantime, Gannett Peak Sports is selling copies of the book if you want to read it before the event!
This is the first year of a new “Journeys” category for the National Outdoor Book Awards, and the judges couldn’t think of a better representative to be its inaugural winner.
To put it simply, This Land of Snow is a tour-de-force of adventure writing. Author Anders Morley chronicles an extraordinary journey in which he mostly skis across Northwest Canada, from the Pacific Ocean, all the way across three provinces, finally ending in Manitoba.
What makes this book rise above others is that the narrative is a multifaceted adventure, bringing in elements of culture, character, humor, all of which overlay Morley's dogged perseverance. Morley is thoughtful, perceptive, and keenly observant. As he meets people along the way, he listens to their way of speech and captures it in his writing. It is just one more way Morley brings life to this book. This is what great journey writing is all about: an inward and outward adventure that entertains and enlightens. An outstanding work!
Come out and get inspired.
